MUSAC Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León

The MUSAC is a Spanish museum in the city of Leon. The museum was founded in 2003 and currently houses around 1,144 works by 426 artists.

The first works of the museum were collected in 1989, the year of the fall of the Berlin wall and the restructuring of Europe. With the passing of the years and following various historical-political changes, today the MUSAC Collection extends its chronological framework to the present day, with the aim of accounting for the current state of the various artistic practices, articulating a special balanced relationship and interesting between the local and the global.

Inside the collection there are several local artists, therefore coming from Castilla y León together with international artists. In the museum there are also several temporary exhibitions organized around due curatorial projects. The samples of the collection are instead made outside the walls of the MUSAC - even in a temporary and curatorial context -, in what is called the MUSAC OFF program.
