The Musikinstrumentenmuseum der Universität Leipzig (Museum of Musical Instruments of the University) is a museum in Leipzig, part of the whole of the GRASSI Musei (which also includes a museum of applied arts and an ethnographic museum on the same site). The museum's collection is organized in a museographic itinerary entitled "The search for the perfect sound", and offers an overview of the musical history of Leipzig and the varied world of musical instruments, retracing the most important musical history and the eras of instrument manufacture. . Thanks to sound reproductions, it is possible to listen to the music of past centuries. The museum itinerary is divided into 13 different sectors: German Renaissance; Heinrich Schütz, Bartolomeo Cristofori: luthier at the Medici court; Johann Sebastian Bach; Tonkunst around 1800; Stein & Streicher; Romance; Saxon Music; jukeboxes and music players; movement time; New Renaissance: a return to old music.
