The Leicester Museum & Art Gallery is a museum in Leicester, England. It was opened in 1849 and was one of the first public museums in the United Kingdom: it contains a rich section of exhibitions of various kinds, from science, to history, to art. In addition, the permanent exhibits include a section on ancient Egypt, dinosaur specimens, the earliest Charnia fossil and minerals from the province of Leicestershire. At the Leicester Museum & Art Gallery there are also two Mesozoic reptile skeletons, namely a cetiosaur and a plesiosaurus. Given the value that the dinosaur collection represents for the museum, this has expanded the gallery by adding a new room. Moving on to the section on Egypt, here are four Egyptian mummies and over 400 objects. As for works of art, the museum has the largest collection of German expressionist art with works by masters such as George Grosz, Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee.
