The Leeds Discovery Center was established in 2007 as a purpose-built exhibition storage facility for the city's museums and galleries. Inside the Leeds Discovery Center there are over a million objects in controlled climate conditions. The museum is open only by reservation and through guided tours.

The collections, coming from all muzzles, include artifacts from different areas of interest: archeology, textiles, natural science samples, social history (including historical board games), world cultures. The exhibits are placed side by side to maximize visual impact. In 2018, the learning team received the Sandford Award for Excellence in Heritage Learning. The Discovery Center organizes events including art classes.
