The Royal Armories Museum in Leeds houses part of what is the United Kingdom's national collection of arms and armor. The Royal Armories has become the oldest museum in the UK, originally housed in the 15th century Tower of London and, at the same time, one of the oldest museums in the world. It houses one of the oldest and largest collections of weapons and armor in the world: the UK's National Collection of Weapons and Armor, the National Artillery Collection and the National Firearms Collection. The Royal Armories were once in charge of making armor for the kings of England and their armies. Already in the time of King Charles V, in the armory of the Tower of London there was a permanent public exhibition known as the Spanish Armory with various instruments of torture and the "Line of Kings", a row of wooden effigies representing the king of England. Five galleries with over 4,500 objects on display can be visited in the Leeds museum and retrace the history of weapons and beyond. In the collection, noteworthy are: Henry VIII's foot combat armor, an all-metal elephant armor and fanged swords from the end of the 16th century, the mask called "Horned helmet", the famous " impulses "from the 1986 film Aliens, the Tula Garniture - an elegantly decorated weapon set belonging to Russian Empress Elizabeth Petrovna since 1752.
