The exhibition project of the exhibition is part of the plan for the enhancement and expansion of the photographic collection of the Photo Library of the Lecco Urban Museum System, which is enriched thanks to a donation of photographs dedicated to the theme of the Adda river. The exhibition, included in the Milano PhotoFestival 2020 review, will thus establish a dialogue between the past and the present of photographic technique, investigating the relationship between the Adda water and its landscape.

The new donations, donated by the photographers Andrea Caronni, Rosandro Cattaneo and Daniele Re, treat the subject with a contemporary stylistic slant, tracing a hypothetical line of development on the iconography of the Adda river and on the innovation of photographic technique, from the pinhole to digital shooting. In this perspective, it was decided to inaugurate the exhibition during the European Heritage Days, conceived by Mibact to analyze, precisely, the role of traditional knowledge in its relationship with the challenges of the present.

The contemporary photos will in fact establish an imaginary "geographical map for images", which will be accompanied by ancient prints and photographic maps, also belonging to the Si.MUL collections. The exhibition will be opened by historical photographs by Bosetti, Ganzini, Longoni and Pessina, alongside the photographic works of Caronni, Cattaneo and Re with paintings by Lombard masters, including Carlo Pizzi. The exhibition will be accompanied by three in-depth meetings on the theme of photography, landscape painting and industrial archeology.
