Palazzo delle Paure hosts from December 5th to March 2nd, 2025 the sixth edition of Masterpiece for Lecco. An exhibition event promoted by theCultural Association and the Pastoral Community of Madonna del Rosario, in collaboration with the Municipality of Lecco and Il Si.M.U.L. 

This year Masterpiece for Lecco brings two great works of art to the city: the Pala Tezi by Perugino and The Adoring Madonna by Giovanni Antonio di Giordano, which will be inaugurated at Palazzo delle Paure on December 5th and December 20th respectively.

The masterpiece featured in the exhibition will be the Sacra Conversazione by Pietro di Cristoforo Vannucci, also known as Perugino, also referred to as Pala Tezi, named after the commissioner. Created in 1500by Perugino, it is currently housed at the National Gallery of Umbria in Perugia. The composition features in the center the Madonna with the Child supported by a flight of angels and accompanied by four Saints in a plain, among gentle hills and the shores of a lake. This work, thanks to its luminosity, splendid chromatics, and compositional harmony, is a paradigm of the artist's maturity.

The Adoring Madonna by Giovanni Antonio di Giordano, which will instead be visitable from December 20th, is a wooden sculpture dated 1499, currently preserved in the church of Santa Maria Assunta in Castelluccio di Norcia. The statue depicts the Madonna adoring the Child; the sculpture of the Baby Jesus, originally lying on the Mother's lap, was stolen in the last century. The work is finely carved, extremely refined in its expressive manners, representing one of the highest testimonies in Valnerina of Renaissance sculpture.
