The Museo Diocesano di Lamezia Terme, located in the Bishop's Seminary Palace, is one of the main cultural hubs of the city. Inaugurated in 1998, it originated from an exhibition in 1993 that highlighted the state of decay of numerous sacred works. Since then, the museum has established itself as the guardian of the artistic and religious heritage of the area. Thanks to two expansions (2004 and 2006), today the Museo Diocesano di Lamezia Terme houses seven exhibition sections with works from the ancient dioceses of Nicastro and Martirano. Among the most precious pieces is a collection of silverware and liturgical furnishings, as well as paintings by the master Francesco Colelli (1762-1782). Also significant is the presence of works from the Roglian school, active in Calabria since the 16th century. The Museo Diocesano di Lamezia Terme is now a reference point for the enhancement of local culture. Considered one of the most important diocesan museums in Calabria, it offers visitors a journey through centuries of sacred art and tradition.
