The CAMEC - Center of Modern and Contemporary Art is located in the historic center of the city of La Spezia. The Center is located in a 1920s building, formerly the seat of Justice. The Center for Modern and Contemporary Art has a very rich and diverse museum collection. The collection is divided into three sections: the Cozzani, Battolini and Premio del Golfo collection. The Cozzani collection consists of 1157 works donated by Ilda and Giorgio Cozzani to the city in 1999. The collection is mostly composed of drawings, graphics, paintings and about 80 sculptures that trace the different artistic styles of the twentieth century. The Battolini section derives from Anna Maria and Ferruccio Battolini at the Municipality. Finally, the Golfo Prize Collection is linked to the national painting award of the same name, organized for the first time by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti in 1933. At the end of the Second World War, the event was resumed from 1949 to 1965 and after a long interruption from 2000 is organized every two years. The Center is a place open to the public and offers guided tours of the museum collection. In addition, it hosts temporary exhibitions of contemporary art to highlight emerging artists.
