The show

The Civic Museums of Palazzo Pianetti and the Cassa di Risparmio di Jesi Foundation present the exhibition ANTHOLOGY (2013-2023) by Patrizio di Massimo, an internationally renowned artist, born in Jesi and living in London. An artist of the depths and intimacy of things, in search of his own balance between himself and reality, which for the type of expressive research, the topics covered and the originality of his style which flow into refined and emblematic forms of representation pictorial, reinterprets the legacy of the great masters of the past, in an original and stimulating dialogue that in Jesi involves both the masterpieces of Lorenzo Lotto present in Palazzo Pianetti, seat of the Pinacoteca Civica, such as the Deposition (1512), the Madonna delle Rose ( 1526), Santa Lucia before the judge (1532), the Annunciation (about 1525) and the Visitation (1532-35), both the works of ancient art exhibited in the Palazzo Bisaccioni gallery, among which the paintings by Guercino stand out , Giorgio Vasari and Raffaellino del Colle.

The exhibition is set up in the historic center of Jesi at Palazzo Pianetti, where the artist's works dialogue with the masterpieces of Lorenzo Lotto, and at Palazzo Bisaccioni, where a nucleus of works related to the theme of the self-portrait is presented.

ANTHOLOGY (2013- 2023) brings together twenty-five paintings mainly of large format, together with a series of drawings and a ceramic installation, produced in the last ten years, which testifies for example the evolution of a pictorial research that combines suggestions drawn from history of twentieth century art (in particular Otto Dix and Christian Schad, but also Achille Funi and Gio Ponti) with an intimate, ironic and grotesque imagery, full of references to a familiar everyday life, revisited in a fantastic and symbolic key.

The exhibition itinerary, defined by the two curators Massimo Vitangeli and Ludovico Pratesi, is articulated through the thematic nuclei that have characterized the work of Patrizio di Massimo: the Self-Portraits, the Family Portraits, the Quarrels, the Portraits, the Love Stories, the Esoterics.
