It will be Professor Francesco Giorgino, as a professor of Communication and Marketing at Luiss University in Rome, to speak at the opening of the XXXII edition of the "Mediterraneo" Contemporary Ceramics Competition, scheduled for Saturday, July 12 at 7 pm at the Episcopio Castle in Grottaglie (Taranto).
His presentation will offer a reflection on the value of ceramics as an identity, economic, and symbolic language of the territory, highlighting the central role of culture and art in contemporary communication dynamics. An enthusiastic and authoritative contribution, capable of combining local roots and a global vision, in line with the spirit of the event, which values contemporary ceramics as a universal code for dialogue among peoples and cultures.
Grottaglie, renowned as the City of Ceramics and recently awarded the prestigious title of Art City by the Puglia Region, confirms itself as a vibrant heart and significant creative forge in the regional and international cultural landscape. The exhibition will be open until Sunday, October 12.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, alongside Professor Giorgino, will be the Mayor of Grottaglie Ciro D’Alò, the Councilor for Culture, Tourism, and valorization of ceramics Raffaella Capriglia, the head of the Cultural Sector of the Municipality, Daniela De Vincentis, the curator and art historian Elena Agosti, and the president of BCC San Marzano di San Giuseppe, a historical partner of the event, Emanuele Di Palma.
The exhibition will feature 73 selected works out of 362 submissions from 236 artists from around the world, curated by a highly qualified technical jury composed of Elena Agosti, Francesca Pirozzi, Tina Byrne, and Giovanni Mirulla. A record result that confirms the growing prestige of the competition in the contemporary art scene. The unprecedented numbers represent an important milestone in the history of the competition. This extraordinary result not only confirms the increasing credibility of the event but also the strength of its mission: to enhance a millennia-old tradition through the lens of contemporary art.
