Breaths of Beauty restarts - with a second edition full of news - the event conceived and curated by Con.Cor.D.A./Compagnia Francesca Selva and realized in collaboration with the cultural center Le Clarisse and the Grosseto Cultura Foundation, with the patronage of the Municipality of Grosseto and the Institution "Le Mura" and thanks to the contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze Foundation.A project that, also this year, chooses to make contemporary dance and art dialogue through performances created specifically for the spaces of the ancient Ex Chiesa dei Bigi, transformed into a laboratory of encounters and resonances between bodies, works, and gazes.
The event will take place from January 9 to June 12 and will propose site-specific performances - on stage at 7.00 pm on the following dates: January 9 and 23, February 6 and 27, March 13 and 27, April 10 and 24, May 8 and 22, June 5 and 12 - exploring the deep connection between movement and image, gesture and color, dance and the paintings of the permanent collection of the cultural center Le Clarisse, which will become a source of inspiration but also "scene partners" for the involved dancers. The protagonists of the first shows on the calendar will be the companies Atacama, Balletto di Torino, and Deja Donné together with the resident company and host Con.Cor.D.A./Compagnia Francesca Selva. Each show will be introduced by the words of the director of the cultural center Le Clarisse Mauro Papa who will introduce us to the knowledge of the paintings that inspired Francesca Selva's choreographies.The mayor Antonfrancesco Vivarelli Colonna and the Culture councilor Luca Agresti declare: "Our city finds in culture a fertile ground to grow and meet again, and Breaths of Beauty is a virtuous example of how different languages can meet and speak to people's hearts. Bringing dance into such an evocative space means giving new life to places and offering the community an experience that combines emotion, artistic quality, and heritage enhancement."
The president of the Grosseto Cultura Foundation Giovanni Tombari and the director of the cultural center Le Clarisse Mauro Papa affirm: "A museum truly lives when it stimulates dialogue, and in this event, the dialogue between paintings and dance is tangible, almost physical. The works of the permanent collection not only serve as a background but become part of the dramaturgy: dance interprets them, listens to them, transforms them. It is a new and engaging way to make the audience rediscover the museum as a place of shared emotions and creativity in motion."The president of the Institution Le Mura Alessandro Capitani emphasizes: "The synergy with the Francesca Selva Company continues to produce projects of great value. This second edition confirms how dance can enrich the city's places, offering audiences artistic paths capable of surprising and attracting new spectators. We are proud to support it."
The artistic director of the event Marcello Valassina explains: "Breaths of Beauty is born from the desire to intertwine languages to generate visions, putting the dancers' bodies in dialogue with works of art means creating an emotional bridge that speaks to everyone, without the need for translations. We want every spectator to live an experience that remains impressed in memory, an opportunity to approach dance through the silent strength of images and painting through the breath of movement."
