The show

As an enfant prodigy of painting, Primo Conti went through the anxieties of the twentieth century as a protagonist, from the beginning, around 1911, to his death in 1988. A feverish and unique activity, entrusted to those "color variables" that the Grosseto exhibition intends retrace and enhance.

The exhibition, conceived by Prof. Carlo Sisi and curated by Anna Mazzanti and Susanna Ragionieri, presents important works from the collections of the Primo Conti Foundation and the CR Firenze Foundation. Among others, Uomo col fiasco and Darsena di Viareggio (both from 1915) and the precious futurist paintings La cocomeraia from 1917 and Strada di Paese from 1918.

Primo Conti, between 1925 and 1949, had portrayed members of the Ponticelli family of Grosseto and exhibited his works in two exhibitions organized in the Maremma capital. This bond with the territory - recovered by his daughter Maria Gloria Conti Bicocchi who, in the 1970s, brought the experience of the video art laboratory art / tapes / 22 to Follonica - has stimulated the Polo Clarisse of the Grosseto Cultura Foundation and the Municipality of Grosseto , with the contribution of the CR Firenze Foundation, to organize the exhibition and to insert it in a cycle of cultural initiatives called "The cultural work" (in homage to Luciano Bianciardi, who died 50 years ago) which questions the development and the crisis of the "myth of the province ”as a reservoir of spontaneous forces of renewal and as an engine of cultural phenomena capable of creating new identities and social cohesion.
