The Le Clarisse Cultural Center, from January 15th to February 13th 2022, hosts the exhibition “Furio Cavallini or Bianciardi's Crazy Horse”.

Promoted by the Cultural Association Giuseppe and Gina Flangini, in collaboration with the Municipality of Grosseto, the Grosseto Cultura Foundation, the Le Clarisse Cultural Center, the Luciano Bianciardi Foundation and the Cavallini Family, the exhibition is the first cultural event with which the Municipality of Grosseto officially begins the celebrations for the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Luciano Bianciardi (1922-2022).

Curated by Elisa Favilli, art historian, and Fabio Canessa, literary and film critic, the exhibition is a narrative plot based on the twenty-year friendship (1954-1971) between the painter Furio Cavallini (Piombino 1929 - Cecina 2012) and the writer Luciano Bianciardi (Grosseto 1922 - Milan 1971).

23 works (paintings and drawings) created by Cavallini will interact with 12 passages taken from the writings made by Bianciardi. The latter texts that will have the task of revealing to every reader-visitor both the critical gaze with which the writer from Grosseto told his personal point of view on art, and the complicity on which Cavallini and Bianciardi were able to build their friendship, thanks to the presentation in the exhibition of the letters that Bianciardi sent to his friend from Piombino, now preserved in the archives of the Luciano Bianciardi Foundation and of the Cavallini family.

Essential, the exhibition aims to highlight the human dimension of the two characters, leaving each visitor the task of capturing the beauty with which the two authors were able, in their respective medium, painting and writing, to interpret their time, denouncing the inhumanity with which the ephemeral well-being of the economic boom made man a slave to luxury, depriving him of all those values that only a decade earlier had freed Italy from Nazi-fascism.
