From 30 October to 9 January 2022
For the second consecutive year the Le Clarisse cultural center is exhibiting, in collaboration with the Diocese of Grosseto and on the occasion of the Week of Beauty, an ancient work of art of extraordinary quality belonging to the private collection of Gianfranco Luzzetti. Last year an unpublished painting was presented, the tondo depicting a Madonna and Child, San Giovannino and the archangel Gabriel referable to the Botticelli Workshop, and this year another Renaissance work will be exhibited, the Madonna and Child between San Pietro and San Sebastiano attributed to the workshop of Giovanni Bellini.
This work from the Luzzetti Collection, created by Giovanni Bellini's workshop at the end of the fifteenth century, is a very high quality copy of the famous painting exhibited in the Louvre as an autograph by the Venetian master. The copy is identical to the original in terms of technique, iconographic subject, format and size, but has some significant variations. For example, the Luzzetti painting has a dark background - modeled on the work of Antonello da Messina - instead of the luminous sky. This feature serves to give greater breath and plasticity to the figures, avoiding the impression of "crowding" found in the example of the Louvre. If the original of the Louvre can be dated to the late seventies of the fifteenth century, the work of the Luzzetti Collection, on the other hand, must refer to the ninth decade of the century.
On the occasion of the exhibition of the painting in Giovanni Bellini's workshop, the Le Clarisse cultural center presents an exhibition section entitled “Trials of infinity in Maremma” and dedicated to contemporary Maremma artists selected through a public tender. The artists on show, who measured themselves on the theme of Beauty Week 2021 ("The infinite beauty ... beyond the hedge"), are: Carlo Bonazza, Pietro Corridori, Daniele Govi, Federico Mattera, Silvia Mineo, Aisha Muller , Armando Orfeo, Germano Paolini, Samantha Passaniti, Chiara Toniolo, Massimo Viti, Giuseppe Zanoni.
