The Burrell Collection is named after its founder, Sir William Burrell.

In 1944 Sir Burrell and his wife, Lady Constance, donated their entire collection of nearly 9,000 objects to the city of Glasgow. This extraordinary collection is one of the most visited and appreciated in all of Scotland to bring you both the inhabitants of Glasgow and a large number of tourists.

The Burrell Collection holds items from all over the world.

The collection is therefore rather heterogeneous and among the most valuable pieces we remember the Chinese ceramics and porcelain of about 5,000 years which make it one of the most important and valuable collections of Chinese art in the United Kingdom;

There are also paintings by famous French artists and exponents of Impressionism including Degas, Cezanne and Manet.

There is no shortage of medieval treasures such as stained glass, weapons and armor over 200 tapestries that rank among the best tapestries in the world.
