The Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Gera (Museum of Decorative Arts in Gera) is a museum dedicated to crafts, fashion, design and furniture, especially from the 20th century. It is the only museum of its kind in the whole of Thuringia. It is located in the Ferberschen Haus, an 18th century bourgeois owned house located in one of the most impressive Baroque residential complexes in Gera. The permanent exhibition “Art Deco and Functionalism. Applied art between the two world wars ”presents crafts, furniture and graphics of the modern age. The focus is on German and international design with ceramics, glass and fabrics by well-known designers. Photography - including works by avant-garde artist Aenne Biermann - and advertising graphics complete the profile of the collection. Changing exhibitions and special events complete the exhibition program.
