Villa Durazzo Pallavicini

Villa Durazzo Pallavicini is located on the Lungomare di Genova , in the Pegli district.

The Palace was built between 1837 and 1846, commissioned by the Marquis Ignazio Pallavicini and designed by the architect Michele Canzio. Villa Durazzo Pallavicini is surrounded by a large garden with various structures, lakes, temples, obelisks and pagodas.

The entrance leads to the building which in the past was the summer residence of the Marquises and today houses the Archaeological Museum with finds from Ligurian prehistory . Adjacent to the Archaeological Museum is the wonderful Botanical Garden , created in the nineteenth century by the Marchesa Clelia Durazzo Pallavicini , an expert in botany.

The botanical garden keeps carnivorous plants, succulent plants, ferns and much more in different groups of greenhouses. From the botanical garden you can access the Coffee house where it was the custom of the nobles to meet for tea. Not to be missed is the flowering of the Ancient Camellias during the spring period. Once this flower was cultivated by the Marquise and today it is the symbol of Villa Durazzo Pallavicini.
