Thursday 7 December, at 11:00, at the MEI - National Museum of Italian Emigration, the visit of a delegation from the Umbria Region, the Municipality of Gualdo Tadino and the Pietro Conti Regional Museum of Emigration, as part of the celebrations for the museum's 20 years of activity. During your stay in the Museum, a short presentation film of the Pietro Conti Regional Museum of Emigration and its Study Center, based in Gualdo Tadino (Pg), will be shown. The video on the history of Umbrian emigration will remain on display in the temporary exhibitions section of the MEI until 29 February 2024.


Paolo Masini - President of the MEI Foundation, Nicla Buonasorte - curator of the MEI exhibition itinerary, Antonino Gambino - Councilor for Security, Local Police and Civil Protection of the Municipality of Genoa, Franco Billi - Director of the International Relations Service of the Umbria Region, Francesca Urelli will be present. - Umbria Region, Massimiliano Presciutti - Mayor of Gualdo Tadino and President of the Pietro Conti Regional Museum of Emigration and Catia Monacelli – Director of the Pietro Conti Regional Museum of Emigration. Through documents, images and stories from all the regions of Italy, the video involves the visitor in an exciting journey backwards: the arrival, the journey and the departure of the emigrant.


A choral journey that is made up of many elements from farewells, to the encounter and clash with the foreign country, but also moments of nostalgia, daily joys and sorrows, integration into the new reality, comparison and reflection with immigration today. From the perspective of network projects and on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the Umbrian museum, the initiative aims to strengthen the link and collaboration between the Pietro Conti Emigration Museum of Gualdo Tadino and the National Emigration Museum of Genoa, with the aim of jointly promoting and disseminating studies and research on the historical heritage of Italian emigration, enhancing the work of each individual region.
