After the great success of the inaugural exhibition in Bagnacavallo (RA), the project Mattia Moreni. From training to the last gasp before the great mutation, curated by Claudio Spadoni, continues its journey with a new stage. The Civic Museum San Domenico in Forlì hosts From Watermelons to the end of Humanism, section curated by Rocco Ronchi and supported by the Municipality of Forlì and the Cassa dei Risparmi Foundation of Forlì, which represents a further in-depth study dedicated to one of the most original and restless figures of Italian art in the second half of the 20th century.

The exhibition project, organized by the "Mattia" Association, involves five museums in Romagna and is conceived as a collective tribute to Mattia Moreni, an artist who, with an autonomous gaze and critical spirit, traversed the main artistic currents of the last century, from neocubism to informal, without ever passively adhering to them. Born in Pavia in 1920 and trained in Turin, Moreni found in Romagna not only a creative refuge but a true elective homeland: a territory that deeply influenced his work and his imagination.

It is precisely from this vital connection with Romagna that the project takes off, with the aim of reinterpreting Moreni's artistic production in the light of his visionary lucidity and his ability to anticipate themes that are more relevant than ever today, from the crisis of humanism to the relationship between nature, technology, and the destiny of man.

The exhibition at the Civic Museum San Domenico in Forlì sheds new light on a less explored but crucial moment in the artist's journey, shifting the focus from an initial phase marked by the furious gesturality of informal art to a more reflective season, where imagination intertwines with memory.
