From 11 October to 8 February 2026
The Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara hosts, from October 11, 2025, to February 8, 2026, the major exhibition
Chagall, witness of his time, an exhibition path of surprising emotional intensity that invites the public to immerse themselves in the poetic universe of one of the most important and beloved masters of 20th-century art.
An extraordinary journey that reveals how Marc Chagall (Vitebsk, 1887 - Saint-Paul de Vence, 1985), universally known for his floating figures and colorful enchanted atmospheres, has been able to keep alive the memory of his homeland, tradition, and affections, always projecting them towards new expressive horizons.
Through 200 works, including paintings, drawings, and engravings, and two immersive rooms that allow you to admire some monumental creations in an engaging and spectacular dimension, the exhibition highlights the profound humanity of Chagall's work, a plural artist, visionary, and witness of his time, a singer of beauty and guardian of memory. Split faces, multiplying profiles, reflecting portraits: through the theme of duality, he reveals his extraordinary ability to grasp the duality of human existence. And still flying lovers, talking animals, explosive bouquets, becoming, transcending the visible, universal metaphors. Through his poetic gaze, Chagall transforms personal experience into shared reflection, revealing how behind the apparent simplicity of his creations lie themes that touch every human being: identity, exile, spirituality, and the joy of living.
In an era of fragmentation, he reminds us that art can be a bridge between different worlds, a synthesis of seemingly irreconcilable traditions, a faithful mirror of humanity's aspirations and contradictions. His work celebrates that emotional truth that makes the deepest feelings of the human soul tangible, elevating the spirit towards a beauty capable of finding, even in the horrors of the time, glimpses of peace and understanding.
