From 28 September to 1 February 2026
From September 28, 2025 to February 1, 2026, the Museums of Fermo present at Palazzo dei Priori the exhibition "Sister Arts. Painting sculpture architecture from the Accademia di San Luca", curated by Laura Bertolaccini, Carolina Brook and Elisa Camboni.
The exhibition traces the history of the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca, from its origins in 1593 to the early decades of the twentieth century, through about 80 emblematic works that recount over four centuries of art history, restoring the complexity and richness of an institution that played a central role in defining taste, education, and artistic thought in Italy and Europe.
The exhibition path, conceived as a visual journey through the ages, brings together masterpieces by famous artists with lesser-known but equally significant works, offering a broad and articulated view of the evolution of the Academy and its deep connection with the city of Rome.
What emerges is not only the artistic value of the works, but also the impact that the institution had on the generations of artists who were trained there or who found an ideal point of reference. In some cases, especially for foreigners, the recognition obtained from the Academy represented a prestigious title upon returning home, thus contributing to the construction of a shared European cultural identity.
