The Kunsthalle Erfurt is an exhibition space in Erfurt that organizes numerous exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. Inaugurated in 1979, it is located in the Haus num Roten Ochsen (The house of the red ox), a Renaissance building in the city, considered one of the most beautiful of its kind in Germany, famous for having a frieze on the facade with muses, ancient gods of the planet and a large red ox in the center with golden horns. The numerous exhibitions organized by the Kunsthalle are held in the beautifully furnished interior Renaissance hall. The Kunsthalle proposes itself as a place for the promotion of modern and contemporary art and as a place of space for emerging artists from the area. However, they are organized with also attending international-level retrospectives on classical authors of the modern era and numerous photography exhibitions.
