Ton Smits Huis was the home and working studio of cartoonist Ton Smits. His work was widely published in American magazines during the late golden age of cartoons and celebrated internationally.
Internationally recognized, Smits trained at a local art school in the Netherlands in the 1930s.
Ton Smits' first cartoon, which was later followed by a long series, was released in America in 1949.
Ton Smits Huis overlooks the park, the house is painted in the pastel pink and blue colors that he also loved to use in his works. In his studio he created not only cartoons, but also paintings, mostly abstract and dreamlike.
Ton Smits Huis today has a collection of The permanent collection contains over 20,000 cartoons and several of his paintings.
