Lauriston Castle, located in Davidson’s Mains, is a beautifully preserved Edwardian home that offers a fascinating glimpse into the life of the Scottish middle class in the early 20th century. Bequeathed to the nation in 1926 by Mrs. Janet Reid, the house has remained intact, with original furnishings, Morison & Co. furniture, and a collection of period objects that tell the story of the Reid family.
The castle is only open to the public through guided tours, available from April to October every day (except Fridays) at 2:00 PM, and from November to March only on weekends. Tours are free, but advance booking is required. The tours offer an engaging experience, with knowledgeable guides recounting the history of the house and its inhabitants.
