Kunsthalle Dusseldorf

The Kunsthalle Düsseldorf is an exhibition hall in Düsseldorf dedicated to contemporary art. The concrete cube in which the Kunsthalle is based, designed by architects Beckmann and Brockes and built in 1967, is one of the most striking buildings in Düsseldorf, a rare example of Brutalist architecture. This space is also shared with another exhibition space dedicated to contemporary art, that of the Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen.

The Kunsthalle sets itself the task of stimulating the debate on today's art, in its immediacy, but also in the context of current developments. It proposes an art that can speak to the public, creating social debates. Of central importance is the idea of transmitting contemporary art and showing its roots and continuities within the artistic discourse.
