Founded in 1990, the Museo della Seta di Como was conceived to narrate the complete process of silk fabric production, from silkworm breeding to the stages of twisting, weaving, dyeing, and printing.
Its rooms house a rich heritage of machines, tools, and technical equipmentused between 1850 and 1950, many of which are still in perfect working order.

The Museum also preserves important historical documentation – including a digital archive, library, and vintage photographs – which testify to the economic, social, and urban evolution of the city of Como, deeply marked by the textile industry.

Today, the Museo della Seta offers a wide range of thematic and experiential visits, workshops for children and adults, temporary exhibitions, and special events, inviting the public to discover the silk tradition of Como in an engaging and contemporary way.
