The Burri Foundation is located in the historic center of Città di Castello, the city of birth of Alberto Burri. Burri was one of the most important exponents of Arte Povera in Italy and the Foundation's goal is to pay tribute to him. The Foundation was established in 1978 by the same Maestro Alberto Burri. Currently it develops in two venues: Albizzini Palace and the Ex Seccatosi Tobacco. Albizzini Palace is a historic building from the middle of the fifteenth century that has been completely restored by the City of Castle Town between 1979 and 1981. Originally Burri decided to allocate an initial donation of thirty works. Today the building houses a rich collection of works by the artist between 1948 and 1989. They compose collecting about 130 works by the artist ordered chronologically, including: Molds, Sacks, Woods, Irons, Combustioni, Cretti, Tar and Cellotex, besides many sketches and graphic productions. The Foundation regularly organizes temporary exhibitions, conferences and cultural events in collaboration with national and international institutions.
