The exhibition project, with the curatorial coordination of Alessandro Pinto, includes about twenty works by Oren Fischer, Hadar Mitz, Margherita Moscardini, Edith Oellers, Klaus Richter, Francesco Simeti, which investigate the political, economic and geographical differences on migration, a question of historical significance, generated by precarious living conditions, situations of violence, wars, and the growing gap between poor and rich countries.
The Mayor of Castelbuono, Mario Cicero, claims that “cultural institutions today must be at the forefront in reaffirming the values of acceptance, solidarity, all ideals of humanity at the base of the democracies of the 21st century, also through artistic projects able to speak with intellectual honesty to the community”.
As Monsignor Domenico Mogavero Fina, Bishop of Mazara del vallo declared: The issue of migration needs urgently to be freed from psychological fears and pressures, from populist propaganda, from the sandbanks of political immobility. Let us give back to the phenomenon its anthropological and humanitarian value and, above all, we should privilege the cultural and educational aspects, for which the sensitivity of the younger generation is particularly aware. Cohabitation between different people in the school's compulsory education system, in fact, facilitates the acceptance and welcoming of the other person perceived as equal, even if different. Also, for this matter, as for the environment, let us give the floor to children and adolescents because they have new messages to propose.
