The Giorgio Conti Palazzo Cucchiari Foundation is located in the center of the city of Carrara. The Foundation is a reference point for contemporary art and its promotion in the city of Carrara. The foundation is housed in Palazzo Cucchiari, a well-known building that stands out for its simple and rigorous style. The palace was built in the nineteenth century by the architect Leandro Caselli and was the seat of the Cucchiari family for a century. Palazzo Cucchiari preserves the original floors made according to the Venetian mosaic tradition and the frescoes that decorate the main rooms probably by local artists. The Foundation was born thanks to the will of the entrepreneur Giorgio Conti in 1982. The Foundation now hosts temporary exhibitions of modern and contemporary art from painting to sculpture.
