The CARMI - Carrara and Michelangelo Museum in Villa Fabbricotti is located inside the historic building in the Padula Park in Carrara. The museum complex is entirely dedicated to the figure of Michelangelo and his relationship with the city of Carrara and marble. These themes are developed in the six rooms on the noble floor. Reproductions of Moses and David are exhibited with holograms, videos, photographs, historical documents and prints. Important is the intertwining between Michelangelo and the contemporary with the contributions of Giacomo Manzù, Michelangelo Antonini, Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti and Luigi Moretti. In addition, other artists have contributed with facsimiles made by Le Corbusier, Arata Isozaki, Robert Venturi and Rothko. Above all, the gigantography of the Vatican Pietà and of the Pietà by Jean Fabre stands out. The space is enriched by the treasures of the Gipsoteca of the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara. The building is surrounded by the wonderful Padula park transformed into an artistic park with environmental works of art with the works of Mainolfi, Parmeggiani, Merz and Morris. CARMI proposes itself as an active and attentive cultural space towards modern and contemporary art as well as with the Academy of Fine Arts of the City.
