From 7 May to 24 February 2024
From 7 May 2023 to 24 February 2024 the Antonio Dalle Nogare Foundation presents I Have to Think About It, the first retrospective exhibition in an Italian institution of the Argentine artist David Lamelas (Buenos Aires, 1946). Author of one of the most fascinating conceptual artistic researches that emerged at the end of the 1960s, Lamelas' practice includes installation, sculpture, drawing, photography, film, video, sound and textual works that describe the contexts and conditions that define our perceptions. and cognitions. An art made, often, of almost nothing.
The exhibition, curated by Andrea Viliani with Eva Brioschi, develops spatially on all floors of the Foundation and extends temporally over the span of several months in which, taking on different configurations and simultaneously activating a comparison with a selection of works from the collection , some of the artist's most important historical works will be presented together with new productions and a program of live events.
Right from his title - consciously self-deprecating ("I have to think about it") - Lamelas calls into question the very format of the exhibition, and in particular of retrospective, to propose a personal interpretation in which the exhibition context, as well as that of the institution, they become elements of an evolving discourse in which to provoke aspects of temporariness and welcome the possibility of different points of view that respond to the context in which the exhibition experience is located, therefore not only that of the artist but also that of the visitor.
