The International Museum and Library of Music is headquartered in the historic center of Bologna, inside the prestigious Sanguinetti. The building was reopened to the public after a long and careful restoration, which reported the original splendor of the interior frescoes painted between the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century. The rooms, beautifully painted, the building that also housed Gioacchino Rossini preserve one of the most prestigious collections for the printed music repertoire from '500 to' 700, for its incunabula, the precious manuscripts, opera librettos, as well as for the unique collection of autographs and letters, the result of a correspondence held by father Martini, spiritual father of the Museum, with eminent personalities, scholars and classic musicians. The floor of the palace is home to the nine rooms of the exhibition, retracing nearly six centuries of European music history with over one hundred paintings of famous musicians, more than eighty antique musical instruments.
