Museum of Resistance and Deportation Besançon

The Musée de la Résistance et de la Déportation Besançon (Museum of Resistance and Deportation) is one of the three museums located inside the Citadelle, the military fortress overlooking Besançon built at the behest of the Sun King and today protected as a World Heritage Site Humanity. The museum is one of the most important of its kind in France. It holds extraordinary collections, notably a collection of deportation art filled with more than 600 small paintings, statuettes and drawings made clandestinely in the prisons and concentration camps of the Reich.
