The Barcelona Design Museum is a Spanish museum located inside the Disseny Hub Barcelona building, a building specifically built to house the museum's collections.
The latter is in fact the result of the merger of 4 pre-existing museums: the Museu de les Arts Decoratives, the Museu de Ceramica, the Museu Tèxtil i de la Indumentària and the Gabinet de les Arts Gràfiques.
For this reason, the museum has a very rich and heterogeneous collection that counts about seventy thousand pieces from different eras.
In particular, the historical collections of decorative arts stand out, including furniture, ceramics, glass, fabrics, watches, wallpaper, guard papers, design collections with products, graphics and fashion; the artistic arts of the XX-XXI century which include art ceramics, art enamels, art goldsmiths.
The museum also pays attention to the critique of what the true contribution of design to 21st century society should be.
