Espais Volart, managed by the Fundació Vila Casas, are two exhibition spaces in the heart of Eixample in Barcelona dedicated to contemporary Catalan art. The first, inaugurated in 2002, is located in the old warehouses of Casa Antònia Puget (at 22 Ausiàs Marc Street), a gem of modernism built in 1904. The second, active since 2008, is housed in the spaces of Casa Felip (at 20 Ausiàs Marc Street), also a modernist building from the early 20th century.
Espais Volart present temporary exhibitions of Catalan artists, both emerging and established, a choice that reflects the Foundation's commitment to promoting local talents and revaluing lesser-known but significant figures in the recent history of the region. With over 1,600 m² of exhibition space, the project offers an open and pluralistic view of contemporary Catalan art, often accompanied by events, talks, conferences, and educational activities.
Perfectly integrated into the urban context of the Eixample district, the spaces combine the architectural elegance of modernism with minimalist and contemporary setups that highlight the works on display. Admission is charged, with reduced rates for students, seniors, and other eligible visitors, and free entry for children under 12 years old.
Espais Volart represent a must-visit destination for those who wish to explore contemporary Catalan artistic scene in a refined historical setting, perfect to combine with a cultural itinerary to discover the modernist architectures of Barcelona.
