In the heart of Avignon, at 17 rue Victor Hugo, opens the elegant Musée Louis Vouland, a refined museum of decorative arts housed in the 18th-19th century hôtel particulier of the Villeneuve-Esclapon family, donated in 1973 by Louis Vouland to the Fondation de France to become a cultural place open to the public.
You can breathe the intimate and cozy atmosphere of a house-museum: the furniture is original and includes period Parisian furniture, porcelain and faïence objects from Moustiers and Marseille, tapestries, clocks, chandeliers, and Chinese objects selected by Vouland in his life as a collector. Each room is organized like an authentic living space, from the living room to the Chinese bedroom, where the works interact with the historical architecture.
The permanent collections also include a selection of paintings by Provencal artists from the 19th-20th centuries, often rotated periodically to offer new combinations and themes in the salons and dedicated temporary spaces.
