This panel is affected by the profound mark that Leonardo's Last Supper left in Bramantino, as evidenced by the monumental setting of the work. The painting is also very interesting from a symbolic point of view: an example is the Madonna enthroned with the Child on her knees, in the act of delivering a stylized palm to Saint Ambrose as a prize for defeating Arianism, symbolized by the corpse of Arius.
