Built in the 17th century based on a design by Gerolamo Quadrio, the Basilica of San Martino is a masterpiece of Lombard Baroque architecture.
The interior, characterized by a three-nave plan, is embellished with stucco decorations from the workshop of Giovanni Angelo Sala, frescoes by Pier Paolo Raggi and Giuseppe Pozzi, and important paintings by Giovanni Battista Piazzetta, Giambettino Cignaroli, and Francesco Capella.
One of the most evocative spaces is the Chapel of the Rosary, decorated with frescoes by Giuseppe Antonio Orelli and featuring the imposing altar by Andrea Fantoni.
Also of extraordinary importance is the monumental pulpit, commissioned in 1711 to Gian Battista Caniana with the collaboration of Andrea Fantoni.
