The British Motor Museum in Warwick is the museum that houses the largest collection of British historic cars in the world. Inaugurated in 1993, the collection includes nearly 300 cars spanning the classic, vintage and veteran eras. The Museum building is a spectacular piece of architecture with an art deco design, while the Collection Center building is modern. The Museum was born as a fusion of the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust's collection of preserved cars. Given the large number of cars to be exhibited, an ad hoc residence was necessary to give the collection a place of honor and open to the public. In addition to the collection, the museum also houses an archive containing more than a million objects ranging from photographs to films, advertising material and technical documentation. The history of the British automobile and the industry that produced them, for more than a century, is then told, as well as providing an overall overview of British social life in those years.
