The African Museum of Verona is located in the historic center of the city. The anthropological museum is dedicated to the peoples and cultures of Africa and was created by the Comboni Missionaries. The Museum houses all the materials and objects from the missions. In particular, the objects of science and ethnographic and anthropological curiosity are of great interest. The first artifacts were brought to Italy in 1892 and initially placed at the Mother House of the Combonani. The cultural importance of the Museum has grown considerably since the second half of the twentieth century and in particular for students of ethno-anthropology. An anthropology library and a photo-film library have been associated with the museum. The museum hosts events and meetings on issues related to African peoples.
