Martha Czok Foundation

The Marta Czok Foundation, with offices in Rome and Venice, deals with artistic and cultural projects in Italy and abroad, with particular attention to the dissemination and study of the artistic work of Marta Czok . The Foundation includes a Museum dedicated to the artist's historical works in Castel Gandolfo (Rome) and a new Project Space in Venice (Rialto). It is a body recognized by the Single National Register of the Third Sector and a member of the World Art Foundations international network.

The Foundation was born from the Marta Czok permanent collection, which specializes in an anthological view of the pictorial work of Marta Czok and in particular in the institutional works of the last forty years. Our programming refers to the themes of these works, which are based on social commentary, political satire and the experience of migration: Marta Czok was born in Lebanon in 1947 and raised in London where her Polish parents found political asylum in the outcome of the Second World War and where he studied at St Martin's School of Art, before moving to Italy in 1974. This transient cultural identity and the socio-political complexities it entailed are reflected in his work, becoming the fulcrum for the curatorial vision of the Foundation's projects.

While the Permanent Collection, which is based in the historic center of Castel Gandolfo (Rome) specializes exclusively in the work of Marta Czok, for the Venice site the concept of exchange is fundamental. It is a "project space" because it provides for ever-changing planning, in dialogue with Italian and international institutions. Projects will include interdisciplinary exhibitions, but also symposiums, performances, artist residencies, workshops and much more.
