The development of new technologies and the search for the new has led many artists to abandon the age-old ink technique, considering it perhaps too traditional to be re-proposed today. Cai Guangbin, one of the most important contemporary artists in China, brings back the ancient technique of ink and its shades applied on paper leaving only part of the tradition behind and applying the technique to aspects that are part of our daily reality and of China of the twenty-first century.
