From 28 September to 28 January 2024
The king's lunch is one of the moments that most comes to mind, stimulating our imagination, when we think about the life of the courts. Yet the images that artists in the service of sovereigns have left us of royal lunches are relatively rare. Through extensive research, the exhibition intends to tell the story of the real tables : in their representation and in their practices.
Through the exhibition of paintings, silver and splendid porcelain services from all the main Italian courts , the fascinating and curious story of the lunches of popes, princes and kings will be told. A story that maintains a strong relationship with all of us.
A fascinating journey that will be possible thanks to the collaboration with the most important former royal residences in Italy, from the Quirinale to the palaces of Capodimonte and Caserta, from the Royal Palace of Milan to the Pitti Palace, from the Royal Palace of Naples to those of Turin and Florence. But there are many other Italian and European museums that have lent their works.
