From October 11, 2025 to January 18, 2026, in the Discovery Space, on the second floor of the Sabauda Gallery, the exhibition "The 'divine' Guido Reni in the Savoy collections and on the altars of Piedmont" will pay tribute to the Emilian painter, on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of his birth.

The exhibition, curated by Annamaria Bava and Sofia Villano, will illustrate, through the works of the Royal Museums and some significant loans from the territory and from the Musée des Augustins in Toulouse, the appreciation of the Savoy court, since the birth of the ducal collections, for Bolognese classicist painting and specifically for the art of Guido Reni.

His composed and luminous style, focused on the harmony of forms and the celebration of an ideal beauty derived from the sculptural models of antiquity and the sublime art of the great masters of the Renaissance, was particularly congenial to the search for grandeur and elegance in the design of the decoration and furnishings of the Savoy residences and court altars.

The first section is dedicated to the works of Guido Reni or attributed to him that entered the ducal collections in the early seventeenth century thanks to Cardinal Maurizio's preference for his painting.

The second presents paintings by the Bolognese master belonging to the gallery of Prince Eugenio di Savoia Soissons, purchased after his death by King Carlo Emanuele III and arrived in Turin in 1741.

A small section will gather significant examples of Guido Reni's graphic activity belonging to the collection of the Sabauda Gallery and the Royal Library.
