The MAUTO - National Automobile Museum presents Carlo Felice Trossi. Unfinished hero, the exhibition dedicated to the multifaceted figure of the Biellese driver. The exhibition - curated by the historian and essayist Giordano Bruno Guerri, with the artistic direction of Maurizio Cilli, the contribution of Francesco Foppiano for the sections dedicated to nautical and aeronautical themes, and of Ilaria Pani and Davide Lorenzone, respectively Head of the Documentation Center and the Conservation and Restoration Center of MAUTO - unfolds along a path of discovery that brings together cars, airplanes, boats, photographic testimonies, drawings, and a large quantity of memorabilia that tell, as a whole, not only about the great driver but also about a protagonist of his time, capable of embodying elegance, freedom, and intelligence in a period of delicate political, social, and cultural balances. The exhibition will be open to the public from May 15 to September 28
2025.
The exhibition's path is divided into 5 chapters - Biography, Competitions, Aeronautics, Nautics, and Design - each of which highlights the various skills of Carlo Felice Trossi. The first chapter presents an installation inspired by the albums created by Clementina Sella, the pilot's mother, who over the years has carefully collected and organized articles and photographs, accompanied by personal annotations. Drawing inspiration from this extraordinary family archive, the wall returns a visual collage that offers an intimate and composite look at Trossi's sports and personal history. The second chapter delves into the sports career of the Biellese driver, including hill climb races, road races, and international grand prix events.
In the third chapter, dedicated to aeronautics, Trossi's interest in civilian and military aircraft that he owned and immortalized in rare color photographs is recounted - displayed here for the first time - allowing us to appreciate the multiple shades of a world now predominantly known in black and white. Nautics, his first passion and field in which he excelled contributing to the design of iconic boats, is the focus of the fourth chapter. Finally, the fifth chapter is dedicated to design and the unmistakable style and taste with which Trossi selected road vehicles and the unique mark he knew how to imprint on his automotive choices.
