The Sartorio Museum is located in the historic center of the city of Trieste and was inaugurated in 2006. The villa is located a short distance from the sea and is surrounded by a large garden. The bourgeois villa became an elegant "house museum" in 1947 thanks to the bequest of Anna Segrè Sartorio. The house is spread over a ground floor, two upper floors and an attic and has an eighteenth-century Venetian-style system inside: a large hall in the center which opens onto, communicating with each other, large rooms, each pleasantly illuminated. from at least two windows. One of the most characteristic and curious rooms is the sitting room of Paolina. Paolina Sartorio spent her entire life in this villa and you can admire the ornaments and panels embroidered according to her style. The environment has the clear grace of the Louis XVI style; a refined simplicity is reflected by the gray and gold of the elegant armchairs, consoles and coffee table, matching the panels that cover the walls, created in years of domestic, archaic work. Some precious Viennese and Neapolitan porcelains are kept in the cabinet and on the table, while Japanese vases are next to them. As over the doors, three monochrome tempera paintings, depicting ruins of a romantic taste, already attributed to Carati. The museum houses the furnishings, works and everyday objects belonging to the Costantinides family in the Empire and Bidermeier style. The collection consists mostly of paintings and drawings of great value. In particular, the rare collection of 254 drawings by Giambattista Tiepolo is exhibited.
