The San Rocco Museum of Contemporary Art is located in the historic center of Trapani and is located near the church of the artists S. Alberto degli Abati and the Episcopal Seminary at Casa Santa. Palazzo San Rocco houses inside the remains of the church of San Rocco, which can still be admired today. The Palazzo is now an interdisciplinary museum center, it organizes temporary exhibitions and enhances the museum collection. The diocese of Trapani has been managing the institution since 2004, the year of its opening. The Museum houses a collection of contemporary and sacred art and has about 130 international artists with over 200 works. Artists of the caliber of Carla Accardi, Adrian Paci, Turi Simeti, Alberto Gianquinto and many others are exhibited. The layout of the museum is in perfect relationship between the works and the exhibition spaces while maintaining the religious and spiritual aura. In fact, the atrium has been transformed into an Oratory with a small apse that houses a modern Crucifix by Marco Papa. The center of the building remains however the church around which all museum activities are held.
