Guido Calamosca, a lazy photographer is the first personal exhibition of the photographer from Senigallia. The exhibition is organized by the Municipality of Senigallia as part of Senigallia City of Photography , an initiative promoted by the Marche Region with the aim of enhancing local talent.
Divided into five sections, the exhibition curated by Giorgia Olivieri offers an overview of Calamosca's artistic vision. With a gaze that could be defined as anthropological, Guido Calamosca captures the essence of places and people in his work, bringing to the surface those details that would otherwise remain submerged as victims of hasty glances. His photographs, although taken digitally, are the result of a meditated and sincerely curious work.
The five sections
Pomp & Pageantry . A work that began in 2011 with the royal wedding of Prince William, continued with the marriage of his brother Harry, concluded with the coronation of King Charles III. Despite what one might think, the object of the investigation is not so much the royal family but the enchantment of the British people towards the monarchy. A reflection on an almost indissoluble bond, magical and mysterious at the same time.Proxemics . How does a tourist move on vacation? This is the question Calamosca asks himself with his camera. With a slow and distracted step, the tourist experiences the space he visits as a snap. His is a circle drawn with a compass whose tip is made up of the smartphone and the radius (of action) of the arm. An amused and entertaining reportage, free from snobbery, which recounts a recent and widespread phenomenon. From which no one is immune.
[ fiè-ra] . Trade fairs are a parallel universe to look at with a curious eye. The result of what can be defined as a "hunt" are images collected in diptychs that find meaning through unexpected and never banal combinations. A picturesque fauna populates an undergrowth where everyone moves between the stands with rapaciousness. Just like ancient fairs. Photographer included.
Portraits . A review of shots of directors, actors, artists, caught on the fly in the midst of people, never face to face. Press conferences, meetings with artists, master classes: these are the places where these faces are immersed. Perhaps it is precisely the unexpected context that makes the expression of these celebrities more alive and human than ever.
Trip . A slideshow from yesteryear shows the «discarded» images of the individual projects alongside series not contemplated in the exhibition. A way to ease the regret of having kept photographs in the drawer.
