The Milena Milani Contemporary Art Museum Foundation is located in the historic center of Savona. The Foundation is housed in the seventeenth-century Palazzo Gavotti and was born by the will of the artist Milena Milani and Carlo Cardazzo, her husband and gallery owner. The goal is to create a meeting place in the artist's hometown. Milena Milani was one of the most famous Italian writers and artists of the twentieth century. During his career he has exhibited his works that reflect the artistic movement of Spatialism for solo exhibitions. The Foundation exhibits its private collection collected during the twentieth century. Thanks to the activity of her husband Carlo Cardazzo, a great international collector and gallery owner, Milani came into contact with the most important artists of Spatialism. The Milena Milani collection is rich in works by contemporary artists, famous all over the world, such as: Lucio Fontana, Filippo de Pisis, Alexander Calder, Jackson Pollock, Vasilij Kandinskij, Virgilio Guidi, Emilio Scanavino and Jean Dubuffet. Today the Foundation is the seat of meetings, seminars, cultural events and temporary exhibitions that revolve around the figure of Milani and the artists closest to her.
